The 1746-IM16 SLC 500 Digital AC Input Module by Allen-Bradley is an input (AC) module with sixteen 200-240V AC inputs and is fitted into any available SLC 500 I/O chassis using an RTB (Removable Terminal Block). It has 16 points per common and an input operating voltage of 170-265V AC at 47-63Hz. It has a backplane current rating of 0.085A at 5V DC and an electrical signal delay of 35ms for ON and 45ms for OFF state around its input points. It has an OFF-state rating of 50V AC voltage loss and 2mA maximum OFF-state current. The 1746-IM16 has an input current (nom) of 12mA around each input points and has a maximum surge current of 1.6A, which can last for a maximum duration of 0.5ms. This module is ideally used to interface signaling devices that delivers 200/240 Volts AC towards the input channels of the module. It may also be used with DC input devices; however, an external interposing relay must be installed with the AC voltage supplied to the contacts of the interposing relay. There is no specific limit to the number of installation instances allowed for this module. This mainly depends on the number of I/Os the host processor is capable of accommodating and the embedded memory size.
